2016: The international year of the pulse

Every year is given the title the ” International Year of something”.

2016 The international year of the pulse

And this year, it’s all about food !!

2016 is “the International Year of the Pulses” – that means, lentils, chickpeas, kidney beans and others.

The United Nations declares the years, hoping to promote causes and discussions.

The aim of this Pulse year is to position them as a primary source of protein and other essential nutrients.

India is the world’s largest producer and the largest consumer of pulses and local Indian chef  Urvashi Patel has dropped in to chat to the ABC’s David Iliffe on the New year’s day breakfast show this morning to enlighten us all about the power of pulses!
